Area of Yeongcheon city amounts to 920.29km2 of which 69% is forests and fields, 18% is agricultural lands and 13% is the rest, occupying 4.8% of Gyeongsangbuk-do province. Yeongcheon is the key point of traffic through which Jungang railway line and Daegu railway line stretched east to west and Gyeongbu Express Highway and national roads and local roads pass. Yeongcheon is surrounded by Bohyeon-san (mountain) which incorporates enterprising spirit of Taebaek Mountains and Palgong-san to the west and Woonju-san to the east. And it forms the upper stream of Geumho-gang (river) at the junction of Nam-cheon (Jaho-cheon, Gogyeong-cheon (stream)) and Buk-cheon (Sinnyeong-cheon, Gohyeon-cheon).
