Location
Yeongcheon city is located southeasterly 350 km from Seoul and is also situated on the southeastern part of Gyeongsangbuk-do. Yeongcheon city is the pivotal city of Gyeongsangbuk-do, bordering Gyeongju city and Pohang city eastward, Gyeongsan city and Daegu Metropolitan City westward, Cheongdo-gun southward and Cheongsong-gun and Gunwie-gun northward.

Climate
Yeongcheon has temperate monsoon climate whose temperature difference is quite large between summer and winter seasons, which is typical to Korea peninsular
In summer season, Yeongcheon has a climate of high temperature and humidity influenced by oceanic climate while it shows cold and dry climate in the winter time due to a continental climate, thus resulting in extremely large temperature differences in both in summer and winter.
The average, the highest and the lowest temperatures for the last 30 years were 12.25oC and 39.4oC(1994.7.20), -20.5oC(1981.1.17) respectively, while average precipitation and sunshine duration per year are 1,021.8mm and 2,310 hours.
